INDIANAPOLIS — Two people have been shot on Indianapolis’ east side, leaving both of the victims in critical condition.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. to the 2800 block of Freeman Drive — near 30th and Post Road — on report of a person shot.

While on the way, they also got a second call about a person shot at a Marathon gas station in the 2800 block of North Post Road.

Once on scene, officers found a juvenile male victim at the Freeman Drive address. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital and police said he is listed in critical condition.

An adult male was found at the gas station and taken to Methodist Hospital and is said to also be in critical condition.

Police said it appeared that the incident began with the sale or exchange of a cell phone inside an apartment on Freeman Drive, and that shots were then fired.

IMPD said that anyone with information or video of the shooting should contact Detective Roberto Sanchez at (317) 327-3475. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.

Police haven’t released any further information at this time as the investigation continues to be active and ongoing.

This is a developing story.
