Shelbyville police say body found in apartment building is man reported missing in 2018

SHELBYVILLE, Ind.– A man found dead in the attic of an apartment building in Shelbyville was identified Tuesday.

The body was found Monday around 7:30 a.m. at 14 East Broadway.

After an examination by a pathologist, the man was identified as 44-year-old Derek Beagle, who went missing on Nov. 24, 2018. He was reported missing to police in December of 2018.

There were no signs of foul play at the time of his disappearance, and any signs of trauma on the body were ruled out.

His manner and cause of death remain undetermined. Police said rumors of his body being wrapped in something like a blanket are not accurate.
