DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. — The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in a child crimes investigation.

Police arrested Andrew Witkemper, the former assistant fire chief of the Greensburg Fire Department.

He faces the following charges: child solicitation, child seduction, and possession of child pornography.

We received a statement from the City of Greensburg:

When the investigation was brought to our attention, the person in question was placed on administrative leave on September 14, 2020. The official notice of retirement for said person was dated and signed by them on October 17, 2020 and the notice was received by the City on October 20, 2020. As October 17, 2020, the person in question has not been an employee and the City of Greensburg has had no contact or contract with them. This is an ongoing investigation with a pending case, and there is no further comment at this time.
