INDIANAPOLIS — About one month after a woman was found dead inside a vehicle on Indianapolis’ northeast side, police made an arrest in the case.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced Thursday that 51-year-old David Ross Sr. was arrested for reckless homicide in connection with the death of 53-year-old Jodessa Cooper.
On Jan. 25, Cooper was found shot in the chest area at the Villages at the Mill Crossing apartment complex in the 3800 block of Mill Crossing Drive, not far from Sherman Drive and 38th Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Court documents state that the vehicle Cooper was found in — a 2005 GMC Yukon — was registered to Ross Sr. Detectives learned that Cooper and Ross Sr. were in a relationship when speaking with family members. A family member also told detectives that on the day of Cooper’s death, Ross Sr. told them he and Cooper fought in the vehicle over his handgun, and the gun went off during the struggle, per court records.
