INDIANAPOLIS — Just before 4 p.m. Thursday, IMPD responded to the 5500 block of Dollar Hide Dr. on a welfare check on the city’s southwest side.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male outside the residence with a weapon.

According to police, shots were fired by the suspect at officers from a second-story window, striking at lease one IMPD patrol car.

The suspect refused to exit the residence while officers negotiated with him.

He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was checked by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) and transported to the Adult Detention Center.

There were no injuries during this incident. No officers discharged their firearms during this incident.
