HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (Dec. 1, 2015) – An eastern Indiana man was sentenced to 170 years in prison for fatally shooting a man and his teenage daughter earlier this year in Blackford County.

A judge handed down the sentence Monday for Charles Whittington, 60, Portland. On Feb. 5, Whittington shot and killed Shane Williamson, 40, and his 14-year-old daughter, Katelin, at their Hartford City apartment building.

A witness said Whittington was angry about online exchanges Williamson was having with his ex-girlfriend. Jurors convicted Whittington of two counts of murder last month. In court Monday, Judge Dean Young called Whittington a “monster” who “executed two human beings.”
