INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Sept. 17th 2015) — Indianapolis police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man wanted for a deadly assault at a local bar.

Police have released surveillance pictures of the suspect in the hope of making an arrest.

With surveillance cameras looking on, the victim and suspect, along with a third man can be seen having some sort of discussion, but it’s not clear about what.

“I’m not sure what they’re discussing, but the next moment the Hispanic gentleman is one of the ground,” said bar owner Jackie Long.

Long owns the bar called Bud’s Tavern where the deadly encounter took place.

When police arrived after the assault, they found the victim bleeding on the floor.

The victim died days later after being taken to the hospital.

Jackie says the suspect came out of bar’s restroom with gun behind his back, but the video does not show a large barroom style brawl.

“There was no fight. If anything there was a shove or punch, but that was the extent of whatever the altercation was,” said Long.

Just seconds later, the suspect calmly walked to the parking lot and drove away in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and did not seem in a hurry to leave.

“I don’t believe anyone was aware anything had happened other than the man was on the ground,” said Long.

Pictures taken from the bar’s cameras clearly show the suspects face.

Jackie says she’s run Bud’s for more than 40 years and has never seen such a short fight turn deadly.

“All the years I’ve been doing this, it’s a very unusual circumstance. I don’t know that anyone’s in the wrong,” said Long. “Unfortunately, it’s one of those fluke accidents.”

The victim is identified at 38-year-old Pablo Hernandez.

An autopsy is being done to determine an exact cause of death.

If anyone has information on the individual’s identity, please call IMPD homicide at 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 262-TIPS. Callers may also text “INDYCS” plus tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
