JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. – Jackson County jail staff allegedly found over 500 pills concealed in a woman’s body following a traffic stop on Tuesday.
According to state police, Trooper Miller stopped a vehicle southbound on I-65 near the 51 mile marker for a traffic violation around 9:30 a.m.
During the course of the investigation, Miller’s K-9 Jinx alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle, and a small amount of marijuana was located in the vehicle during the search.
The driver of the vehicle, Demetrius Sims, 20, along with passengers Brandon Ewing, 26, and Martanique Collins, 23, were arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the Jackson County Jail.
Miller was suspicious that the suspects were in possession of additional drugs, and he requested the jail staff conduct a more thorough search of the suspects at the jail.
During the search, staff found over 500 pills concealed in Collins’ body. All of the pills were found to be schedule II controlled substances.
All three suspects were charged with dealing a schedule II controlled substance and possession of marijuana.
Ewing was additionally charged with maintaining a common nuisance. And Collins was additionally charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, trafficking with an inmate, and visiting a common nuisance.
All three were incarcerated pending initial appearances in the Jackson Circuit Court.
