Update (September 9, 2016) – Mark Patterson was found guilty of murder and sentence to 75 years in prison.

INDIANAPOLIS (April 29, 2015) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police arrested a man in connection with a March murder.

According to police, Mark Patterson Jr., 32, fatally shot Destiny Asher, 24, at a gas station after they’d arranged a drug deal. Detectives arrested Patterson Tuesday on charges of murder and robbery.

Officers arrived at the intersection of East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue on March 26 in response to a report of a person shot. Police found Patterson with a gunshot wound to his face. According to investigators, Patterson met up with Asher at a gas station to sell drugs.

During the alleged deal, police said Patterson approached the vehicle Asher and others were sitting in and tried to rob them. He and another person exchanged gunfire. Asher, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, was taken to an area hospital where she died from her injuries.
