INDIANAPOLIS — A woman was shot and killed Friday morning on the northeast side of Indianapolis, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

At about 10 a.m., police were called to 8110 North Shadeland Avenue, where a Red Roof Inn is located.

Officers arrived to find a woman in a room with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead. The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified her as 27-year-old Alexis Ford.

IMPD said officers took one person into custody, but “their involvement in this incident is unclear at this time.” Police added that there is no active threat to the public.

Police have arrested 30-year-old Timothy Gardner for his alleged involvement in this incident.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
