INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 13, 2015) – A homeless man fatally stabbed an Indianapolis man who took him in, police say.
Romaine Durrett, 32, is charged with murder after the Jan. 7 death of Gale Haltom, 58.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Haltom was found dead at a home in the 3700 block of North Meridian Street around 4:40 p.m. that day. He’d suffered multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso, investigators said.
According to IMPD, Haltom befriended Durrett and a woman–both homeless–at a bus stop near his home and invited them inside. After the woman left, Haltom and Durrett got into an argument.
During the altercation, police said Durrett stabbed Haltom multiple times.
