ORIGINAL STORY:
CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel police arrested a man Wednesday after he fired a gun “indiscriminately” into a fitness center, and one of the bullets struck a man in the leg, according to the Carmel Police Department.
Police were dispatched to Anytime Fitness at 110 W. Main Street around 4:30 a.m. for a report of a person shot.
Officers arrived to find a man inside the building with a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, CPD said.
It’s unknown if the man was a worker or a gym patron. While Anytime Fitness provides around the clock access, staffed hours begin at 10 a.m. Wednesdays, according to the gym’s website.
As officers investigated they discovered that a man had been walking outside in the area when he began to “fire a gun indiscriminately into the building,” CPD said in a release.

The man — later identified as 25-year-old Moses Shoaga of Indianapolis — was found in the area a short time later and taken into custody by CPD officers.
Shoaga is facing charges of felony criminal recklessness and misdemeanor carrying a handgun without a license.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact detective Carter at 317-571-2500 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477 (TIPS). Police ask that you reference CPD case number 2021-81791.
