INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating an overnight shooting on the near south side that has left one person in critical condition and two others injured.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers were dispatched around 10 p.m. Saturday to the 1300 block of S. East Street on report of shots fired. While officers were unable to locate any victims they did find multiple shell casings.

Police then received a report of two individuals who walked into Eskenazi Hospital with gunshot injuries. One victim was reported to be awake and breathing and in stable condition, while the other victim was reported to be in critical condition.

Detectives believe those individuals drove themselves to the hospital.

IMPD officers also responded to IU Health Methodist Hospital overnight for another walk-in person shot. This victim, believed to be involved in the same shooting incident, was reported to be in stable condition.
