INDIANAPOLIS (March 4, 2015) – A postal worker pleaded guilty to sexual battery after an encounter with a woman last year.

Charles Helton was sentenced to one year, suspended. In addition, he’ll serve one year on probation and 40 hours of community service. He’ll also have to undergo mental health treatment. Other charges against him—burglary, criminal confinement, official misconduct and battery—were dismissed.

In February 2014, police said a mailman later identified as Helton came to a business in the 1600 block of West Oliver Avenue and approached a woman at the window. He proceeded to make inappropriate advances and asked her to perform sex acts, police said.

He left but returned later and knocked on the office’s backdoor. The woman answered because she thought a coworker was returning from lunch. Instead, it was Helton. The woman said he forced his way into the office and assaulted her.
