INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 19, 2016) -- If you’re looking for a new job, there are a few opportunities happening Tuesday.

Councilor Marilyn Pfisterer will host her annual job fair at Lakeview Church. The event will feature more than 60 companies offering hundreds of job opportunities, from entry-level spots to positions that require advanced education or technical training.

Pfisterer says the reason behind the event is about more than filling jobs though.

"With so many of our residents unemployed or underemployed, it has been one of my primary initiatives to focus on finding as many job opportunities as I can and match those openings to individuals seeking employment," Pfisterer said.

"Unemployment affects our entire community, not just economically, but also from a public safety standpoint, in that it often leads to desperation and crime. I’m just trying to do my part in finding a solution to this overwhelming problem," she said.

Pfisterer’s Annual Job Fair will be held on Tuesday, April 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeview Church, 47 Beachway Drive, Indianapolis. Those attending should bring several copies of their resume.

There's also an event happening on the south side Tuesday.

AT&T is looking to fill more than 50 jobs in Indiana. Those interested in applying for Mobility Sales Specialist positions can attend an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 8812 U.S. 31 South.

Organizers say those interested should apply online before the event here. Candidates must pass an online assessment to be interviewed at the hiring event. Applicants should bring at least three printed copies of their resumes to the hiring event.
