Juvenile hit by car in Edinburgh, taken by helicopter to Indy hospital

EDINBURGH – A 10-year-old boy was taken by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital after being hit by a car Friday afternoon.

According to Edinburgh police, the accident happened on State Road 252 near the intersection of Lind Drive. The 81-year-old driver told police he’d hit the victim who was crossing the road after checking a mailbox.

The driver wasn’t hurt, but the young victim, identified as Ethan Powell of Edinburgh, was taken by helicopter to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health by helicopter.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
