K9 officer apprehends suspect after chase, crash on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS – A police chase ended when a K9 officer apprehended a suspect trying to flee officers early Thursday morning.

Officers tried to initiate a traffic stop shortly after 12:30 a.m. when the suspect vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued.

According to police, officers followed the suspect vehicle until it crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Rockville Road and Eleanor Street.

After the crash, officers say the driver tried to flee on foot and was apprehended by a K9 officer.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
