INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 3, 2015) – Two teenagers, who were believed to have been abducted from their Indianapolis home, have been placed under the custody of Child Protective Services. Authorities said Aaron Blackwell, 16, and Emma Blackwell, 13, will remain with CPS until it has been determined they are not in danger any more.
Aaron and Emma Blackwell were abducted, early Monday morning, after detectives said it appeared three men with guns went to their home along North LaSalle Street and kidnapped them. FOX59 learned Aaron Blackwell was allowed to communicate with his family during the kidnapping.
At this time, authorities believe the siblings were targeted and that this stems from a narcotics situation. FOX59 learned Aaron and Emma’s sister, Whitney Blackwell, may have stolen $48,000 and drugs from a dealer in Detroit and that the kidnapping may have been a result of that. We are told IMPD has recovered some of that cash.
Whitney Blackwell is being held behind bars on a 2012 warrant after she did not appear in court on a 2010 traffic violation. The 2010 charge was driving while suspended. She is behind bars without bond. Whitney Blackwell has been in trouble with the law in the past. She was previously convicted for things like resisting law enforcement and prostitution.
FOX59 has also learned a man named Stanley Parnell was arrested yesterday. Stanley Pernell’s listed address is the same one where the kidnapping happened. IMPD confirms Stanley Pernell is related to Whitney Blackwell. He was faces several charges including burglary and resisting law enforcement. It is unclear whether Stanley Parnell’s has any information about this case.
Aaron Blackwell was rescued Monday night after a high speed chase in Michigan. His sister was dropped off back at her home early Tuesday.
IMPD continues to investigate and work with Detroit police as well as federal agents. FOX59 learned several people have been questioned.
