KOKOMO, Ind. — A 19-year-old man was shot to death on a street near downtown Kokomo.

The shooting happened Monday around 11:20 p.m. in the area of East Taylor Street, just east of Apperson Way.

Kokomo Police Department Capt. Teresa Galloway said officers found two bicycles in the street, several different caliber of gun shell casings, and droplets of blood.

A few blocks away, investigating officers saw several teenagers walking in the area. They said they heard a fight.

Officers found a man lying face down on a curb in the 400 block of North Bell Street. He had multiple gunshot wounds, and medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Police found a handgun next to his body, and detectives believe it belongs to the victim.

Capt. Galloway says they believe the victim and someone else were riding the bikes before someone fired shots. The other person on the bike fled the scene, and officers want to speak with that person.

Investigators say they have no witnesses at this point, and they are asking for the public’s help with information. If you know anything or saw anything, call Crime Stoppers or KPD Capt. Galloway at 765-456-7326.
