HAMILTON COUNTY – Construction on U.S. Highway 31 continues this week with the addition of lane closures around Westfield.
Contractors for the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) have been shifting all lanes of U.S. 31 to share the northbound side of the highway between State Road 38 and 169th Street.
On Thursday, crews began work in Westfield. The traffic light at U.S. 31/SR 32 was turned off while crews adjusted the signal and flaggers were out in the middle of the intersection to direct traffic.
Drivers will need to follow new lane restrictions:
- Southbound U.S. 31 reduced to one lane between State Road 38 and State Road 32
- Northbound U.S. 31 reduced to one lane between 181st Street and State Road 38
- Access to/from 203rd Street at U.S. 31 permanently removed
According to INDOT, once traffic is shifted between State Road 38 and 169th Street, left turns to and from U.S. 31 will only be permitted at 181st/Hoover Street, 196th Street, State Road 32 and 169th Street.
