INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Lt. Aaron Allan of the Southport Police Department was laid to rest Saturday.

Allan was moved from Crown Hill Funeral Home to Bankers Life Fieldhouse in the morning. A public memorial service was held at 11 a.m. at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. More than 2,000 people attended.

He was fatally shot on Thursday, July 27, while responding to a crash.

After the service concluded, Allan’s funeral procession went to the Southport Police Department for his final 1042 call. He was then taken to Crown Hill, where a 21-gun salute and “Taps” honored his memory.
