An Indianapolis man will receive $1,000 for the rest of his life after purchasing a winning Hoosier Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Carl Manning Sr. bought the $2 “Cash For Life” ticket at Nelson’s Marathon gas station, located at 1638 Shelby Street.

“I walked in the house and said, ‘We’re rich!’ said Manning.

Manning, who has worked at Aircom Manufacturing for the past 25 years, said he plans to continue working but is looking forward to the peace of mind the extra income will bring.

“I’m not worried anymore,” said Manning. “I love my wife and I know she’s taken care of for the rest of her life.”

Manning said he plans to share some of his winnings with his church, start renovating his 1896 home and go on a trip that every big Elvis fan dreams of—a visit to Graceland.

The new scratch-off lottery game went on sale statewide Thursday.  Players can purchase $1, $2, $5 or $10 tickets for a chance to win prizes that range from $500 to $5,000 a week for life.
