INDIANAPOLIS – A 79-year-old man says three people burst into his south side home before beating him up and stealing his wallet.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim was in his kitchen around 10 p.m. Sunday when the men came in through the back door. It happened at a home in the 1600 block of Draper Street in the Fountain Square neighborhood.
One man hit him in the chest with the barrel of a long gun and threatened to kill the victim if he didn’t hand over his money. The two other intruders started searching the home.
The man surrendered his wallet, which the men took. The victim said $5, a credit card and driver’s license were inside.
The man suffered cuts to his hands and needed treatment at an area hospital, according to the report. The man described the attackers as white with slender builds. He said they appeared to be in their late teens or early twenties.
The case remains under investigation.
