INDIANAPOLIS – A motorcyclist died in an overnight crash on I-69.
According to Indiana State Police (ISP), the crash happened before 1 a.m. near the Castleton exit on I-69.
ISP reconstructionists say a preliminary investigation indicates the semi-tractor trailer slowed to a stop in the center lane of I-69 due to a mechanical issue. The motorcyclist, identified as 62-year-old Neil Holbrook of Goshen, hit the back of the stopped semi. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.
Police say the motorcycle and area around it caught fire, which was extinguished by the semi driver.
Holsbrook was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined the 27-year-old driver of the semi was operating the vehicle with a disqualified commercial driver’s license. Police indicate that he was cited, but did not say he was arrested.
