INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 10, 2014) – A man was found dead on the east side Friday morning.

Investigators believe the man was homeless. Police on scene said it appeared the man and had been living in a homeless camp in a snowy field behind some warehouse buildings south of Washington Street and west of Keystone Avenue.

According to the Marion County Coroner’s Office, the man refused to seek shelter before the snowstorm and subzero temperatures arrived. He was not wearing a coat and was inside a tent with no source of heat, according to Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie Ballew.

An autopsy will be performed Saturday to determine the cause of death.
