Man killed after Amish buggy, pickup truck collide

RIPLEY COUNTY – A young man died after an Amish buggy crashed head-on with a pickup truck in southeastern Indiana Thursday night.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, Daniel X. Stolzfus was guiding the buggy northbound on U.S. 421 near County Road 450S when it veered into the southbound lane. The buggy slammed into a pickup truck, and Stolzfus was thrown from the vehicle into the northbound lane.

State police said Stolzfus may have been hit by oncoming cars after being ejected. He died from his injuries. His horse was killed on impact.

None of the other drivers were hurt. The crash remains under investigation.
