INDIANAPOLIS – A man who was on work release is now back behind bars after police say he attacked and killed another man.
Indianapolis Metropolitan police said Joseph Motley attacked Alan Cain at the Duvall Residential Center on Ludlow Avenue. During an argument, police said Motley hit Cain in the head, causing him to fall backwards onto a concrete floor.
Cain was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital and placed in intensive care. He died from his injuries last week. An autopsy listed the cause of death as complications from blunt force trauma and ruled his death a homicide.
Motley faces aggravated battery and murder charges. He is awaiting trial on another case in which he’s charged with intimidation and receiving stolen property.
