INDIANAPOLIS (May 13, 2014) – One of the men accused of stealing a family’s SUV after a fatal fire has learned his sentence.

Shadrick Shears pleaded guilty to criminal trespass Monday. He was sentenced to 10 months of probation and community service.

Shears must also testify against Jeremy Akins. Prosecutors said Shears went along with Akins when he broke into the home of the Guerra family, found the keys to their SUV and stole it.

The theft happened just days after the family of six died in a house fire.
