Investigators in Tippecanoe County are looking for a man in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash from last week.

On Tuesday, May 14, Rodney Smith, 62, Lafayette, was riding his bike along North Ninth Street when he was hit by a white Nissan van. He died from his injuries Sunday.

Investigators said the driver of the van stopped, briefly got out and then drove away. Deputies found the van abandoned behind the Family Pantry Convenience Store at North Ninth Street and Duncan Road.

They’ve identified the driver as Gregorio Felipe, 38. Attempts to find him have proven unsuccessful. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lt. Jason Huber at (765) 423-9388 ext. 3230.
