TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – A man wanted on several warrants was found in the crawl space of a Terre Haute home Tuesday afternoon.

Police and SWAT were called to the home in the 3000 block of South 9 ½ Street around noon after learning that Frank D. Porter, 41, had barricaded himself inside. He was wanted on warrants for resisting law enforcement, battery with moderate bodily injury, residential entry, domestic battery, and operating while intoxicated.

When authorities arrived, they say they attempted to make contact with Porter, but were unable to. SWAT members used an armored vehicle to force open the backdoor and then deployed a camera-equipped robot to search the home.

When authorities opened the flooring, they discovered Porter hiding inside the crawl space. He was taken into custody without incident just before 3:00 p.m. and taken to the Vigo County Jail.

The suspect’s wife, Rachel Porter, 38, was also arrested for misdemeanor conversion.
