Marion County Clerk’s Office to join hearts for Valentine’s Day

INDIANAPOLIS – If you are thinking about a Valentines wedding performed in a simple ceremony, the Marion County Clerk’s office and the American Heart Association want you. The County Clerk’s office on Friday, February 12, will perform wedding ceremonies to help raise money for the American Heart Association.

Couples who desire a simple civil ceremony or vow renewal can visit the Clerk’s office from 10a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday February 12. In lieu of an officiant’s fee, couples are asked to make a $50 contribution via cash or money order to the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign. Space is limited and reservations are encouraged.

Couples must present a valid marriage license to be married on Valentine’s Day. To apply for a marriage license in Marion County, either the bride or the groom must be a resident and show proof of residency.

The marriage license fee is $18 for Marion County residents. Hoosier couples living outside of Marion County should apply for their license in their home county, even if they intend to marry in Indianapolis. The marriage license fee for out-of-state residents is $60.
