MERRILLVILLE (Sept. 11, 2014) – A Merrillville police officer killed in the line of duty will be laid to rest Monday.
Patrolman Nick Schultz died Sunday morning after being shot Friday night during an ambush at a condo unit. Schultz, 24, was removed from life support after being taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He is a graduate of Franklin College.
Visitation for Schultz is Sunday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Radisson Star Plaza, 800 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville.
Funeral services will follow on Monday at 11 a.m. at the same location. Schultz will be buried at Lowell Memorial Cemetery.
