ANDERSON – A Middletown teenager shot and killed Monday afternoon will be laid to rest Friday.

Logan Anthony Armendariz, 13, died after being shot in Anderson. He suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. It happened Monday afternoon in the 5700 block of Park Road.

Anderson police tell Fox 59 that the boy’s younger brother shot him. According to investigators, the brother got inside a locked closet and a locked gun safe. The safe held five guns–four of which were unloaded. One revolver had a single bullet in the chamber.

Armendariz was a member of Eastside Church of God. He finished sixth grade at Daleville Community Schools and was getting ready to start seventh grade. According to his obituary from the Robert D. Loose Funeral Home, he was an honor roll student who loved playing and watching baseball, basketball and football. He also spent nine years playing Little League.

Visitation for Armendariz is Friday at Eastside Church of God. A private family funeral will follow. For more information, visit the website for Robert D. Louis Funeral Home.
