INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 7, 2015)–Nearly 14-thousand runners took to downtown streets Saturday for the Monumental Marathon.

Indianapolis elite runner, Jessie Davis, crossed the finish line with a time of two hours and 18 minutes.  That happens to be the exact time needed for the Olympic marathon trials next year.

Nicole Michmerhuizen of Ann Arbor, Michigan was the women’s marathon winner at just over 2 hours and 41 minutes.

Indy’s Monumental Marathon set a new event record of finishers, making it the 16th largest marathon in the United States.

There was also a half-marathon and 5-K run.  The event raises money to support public education.

Plans are already underway for next year’s race which will be held on Saturday November 5th, 2016.
