MONROVIA, Ind. (May 29, 2016)–An autopsy was performed Sunday on two people found dead inside their Briarwood Lake home on Saturday.

Morgan County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 8700 block of Briarwood Lake Court after someone reported smelling a strong odor coming from the home.

A man and a woman, who were believed to be in a relationship, were found dead on the couch in the living room. It’s believed the couple may have been dead for a couple of weeks, according to Morgan County coroner Annette Rohlman.

Following Sunday’s autopsy, Rohlman said the deaths are not being investigated as a criminal matter. There were no signs of trauma on either body and no foul play is suspected.

Coroner Rohlman said it is possible the two deaths were accidental.

The female has been identified as 49-year-old Venita Sanders. Authorities are still working to make positive identification on the male before releasing his identity.

According to the coroner, it is believed the couple died at the same time.

Both bodies were in an advanced stage of decomposition, delaying a finding on their exact cause of death at this time.
