INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.  {July 30, 2015}   Police are investigating why a motorcyclist fled from them despite no request by officers to pull over for any kind of traffic stop.

Shortly before 11pm Thursday night, IMPD officers were on normal patrol on the city’s near northeast side when they came upon a male on motorcycle who spotted them but then proceeded to flee from the area northbound on Rural Street at a high rate of speed before wrecking into a car at Brookside Drive.

Police have learned that the motorcycle was stolen and also that the operator at the time of the wreck was in possession of a gun.

While the driver of the car sustained minor injuries, the motorcycle driver was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with undisclosed injuries and has been listed in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
