FISHERS, Ind. (June, 21, 2014) — Dozens of motorcyclists gathered in Fishers on Saturday, for the 3rd annual Ruff Ride.

The Humane Society of Hamilton County organized the event, which pairs war veterans, who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, with shelter dogs and cats to help in their healing.

All proceeds from the event went to the “Pets Healing Vets” program.

The event was started when the wife of an injured Indiana veteran who nearly took his own life, came forward asking for help in his recovery.

The healing vets program is the only program of its type that helps wounded veterans in such a way.
