MUNCIE, Ind. -- The Muncie Police Department released additional details after a man was shot and killed during an apparent armed robbery attempt on Saturday.

The shooting happened at an apartment complex right across the street from Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University. The shooting prompted a temporary lock-down for students.

Police said Trayon Turner and another man attempted to rob a woman living inside an apartment on N. Glenwood Avenue. Both men are from Indianapolis. Police said the two men fired their guns into the apartment and the resident, Darjae Houston fired back hitting both of them. Turner was killed during the shooting. Houston also reported a friend inside the apartment had a gunshot wound to his wrist.

"The victim in the residence said that two armed intruders attempted to force their way into her apartment. Gunfire rang out and she began to return fire," said Muncie Police Investigator Brian Campbell.

During the investigation, police found $10,000 cash, three ball jars containing marijuana, digital scales, small baggies and a safe. Police noted the drugs weighed more than 30 grams. Houston was charged with maintaining a common nuisance and possession of marijuana.  She's a current Ball State University student.

Alicia Tarver was also arrested for allegedly lying to police about her knowledge of the crimes. According to court records, Tarver was on "Facetime" with Houston during the shooting and drove to Muncie after. Court records show another man involved in the shooting, Delon Owens, told Tarver he had been shot.

Owens has a criminal history in Marion County including charges stemming from a shootout inside a downtown Indianapolis parking garage. In that case, Owens was charged with four counts of attempted murder. He was released on bond less than 10 days after. Owens is Turner's cousin.

Tarver is charged with obstruction of justice, false informing, and assisting a criminal. She told police "Delon wouldn't tell her what happened and she had no clue what happened." Police later found a car belonging to Turner's mother at Tarver's apartment complex. Police found a bloody silver .38 caliber revolver in a dumpster near where the car was parked and Turner's wallet inside Tarver's apartment. Tarver is also a Ball State University student.

Police say more charges could be coming in the case. It will be up to the prosecutors office if charges are filed for the fatal shooting.
