JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.  – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after two people were found dead in the back of a pickup truck.

Sheriff Doug Cox says the bodies of Jonie Snyder, 36, and Gregory McCray, 48, were found when a man who was deer watching in the area of 550 South and Schoolhouse Road noticed the truck parked off the road just after 7 a.m. Saturday. That man then saw two people laid out in the back of the truck and tried to get their attention by calling out to them. When there was no response, he got out of his vehicle to check on the pair. He then saw blood and contacted 911.

First responders were dispatched to the scene and the two people were pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office says evidence at the scene, including a gun, suggests the incident was a murder/suicide.  We’re told it appeared that McCray shot Snyder and then turned the gun on himself.

Authorities are still investigating and an autopsy is slated for the pair.
