Colorado billboard advertises woman’s search for kidney

CANON CITY, Colo. — Running out of time and options, a Colorado woman is hoping a billboard will save her life.

Becky Kelly suffers from a rare genetic disease called hemolytic-uremic syndrome. After three years on dialysis and one failed transplant, her doctors have told her she needs to take another shot at acquiring a new kidney.

That’s why – in what could be seen as both a bold and risky move – Kelly put up a billboard along Highway 50 advertising her search for a kidney that contains her photo and home phone number. She has set up a Facebook page, as well.
