WILMINGTON, Calif. (June 17, 2015) – Did a California KFC serve up a deep fried rat?
That’s the claim from a customer who says he lost his appetite after ordering chicken tenders from the fast-food chain, reports CNN. He said the chicken looked like a rat and tasted “hard and rubbery.”
“It was very nasty,” the customer, Devorise Dixon, told a Los Angeles radio station. “I spit it out. I looked down at my hand and I realized that it was in the shape of a rat with a tail and everything in it.”
Dixon put the chicken tender in the freezer—but not before posting video of it on Facebook. He said he returned to the restaurant with photos and his receipt.
“The manager actually freaked out, confirmed that it was a rat,” Dixon told the radio station. “She apologized for it. They actually just offered me a free meal.”
Dixon declined the offer and hired a lawyer instead.

KFC doubts Dixon’s claims, but the restaurant said it wants to work with him to find out what happened. The restaurant noted its chicken tenders often vary in shape and size and said it had “no evidence to support Dixon’s claim.”
Dixon didn’t respond when CNN tried to contact him about the situation. KFC told CNN they didn’t hear back from Dixon either.
“We have made various attempts to contact him, but he is refusing to either talk to us personally or through a lawyer. Nor has he come forth with the chicken piece in question for verification,” KFC said.
The restaurant offered to have the chicken piece tested at an independent lab free of charge.
