QUEENS, NY – A family took their dog to a groomer in Queens, but when they returned to pick her up, the groomer gave them the wrong dog back. Now they’re desperately searching for the person who has their dog.

Sandra Jaikissoon told PIX11 she took her 2-year-old Shih Tzu named Hope to Puppy Land on June 15. She returned to pick up her dog, but the dog the groomer gave her wasn’t Hope.

The groomer told Jaikissoon that her dog just looked different because her hair is shorter. But Jaikissoon’s dog is spayed and has a chip. And the dog the groomer gave her does not.

She filed a police report and the groomer confessed to the mix-up. The problem now is that the groomer cannot remember the name or number of the customer who he gave Hope to.

PIX11 tried tracking down the groomer but no luck, his business has been closed the past few days.

"We are wondering what is going through her mind, what is she eating, where is she sleeping," Jaikissoon told PIX11.

Jaikissoon has been posting fliers of Hope, hoping someone will realize they have the wrong dog.
