MENOMONIE, Wis. (May 15, 2014) – A national symbol of pride is returned to the wild!

It took a while, but a bald eagle is flying again in Wisconsin.

It was injured last month when it flew into a boat being towed by a Minnesota couple.

The bald eagle suffered internal injuries and had a problem with an eye. It spent about two weeks of recovery at a bird rehab center in the Twin Cities.

And yesterday came the big moment when the eagle soared back into the wild.

Officials say they could tell the bird knew where he was, based on his flight patterns.
