The Labrador retriever was named the most popular dog in the United States, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).

The AKC released their annual list of the most popular breeds in 2012 on Wednesday.

Labrador retrievers have been the most popular breed for 22 consecutive years, typing with the poodle for the longest reign in the top spot.

German shepherd’s earned the second spot on the list, followed by the golden retriever, the beagle and the bulldog.
