FRESNO, CA (March 8, 2016) – Police arrested a known gang member on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop in Fresno.
According to the Fresno Police Department, on Tuesday, March 7, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of E Kaviland Avenue and South Holloway Avenue. The officer learned the driver was Khamprasong Thammavong, 33, of Fresno.
The officer learned Thammavong was on AB109 probation, and he’s a documented Laos Blood gang member. The officer requested assistance from the Southeast Violent Crime Impact Team to assist him on the traffic stop.
Thammavong’s home is open to search and seizure as part of his probation, so the SE VCIT team conducted a probation search after taking custody of him.
During the search, officers found a semi-automatic rifle and a semi-automatic handgun, both of which were not registered to Thammavong. Additionally, tactical gear similar to law enforcement equipment, 38 marijuana plants and narcotics paraphernalia were found in the house.
Thammavong was arrested for numerous felony charges including felon in possession of a firearm and cultivation of marijuana. He was booked into Fresno County Jail.
