WASHINGTON (Nov. 30, 2015)– President Barack Obama will deliver his seventh and final State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on January 12.
House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin announced the date on Monday.
The annual presidential update is required by the Constitution. Obama’s final address will take place just before early primaries get underway in the campaign to replace him.
“As we look ahead to the new year, we have both an opportunity and an obligation to find common ground to advance the nation’s interests at home and abroad,” Ryan wrote in the letter.
