The government shutdown couldn’t stop a group of Mississippi veterans from visiting the WWII Memorial.

The memorial is technically closed to the public as are dozens of national parks.

Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, distracted a park police officer while other lawmakers worked to move the fetal fences.

Led by a bagpiper, the veterans walked into the memorial to honor those who gave their lives fighting for America.
