NEW CASTLE, Ind. (March 23, 2015)– A man facing charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct pleaded not guilty Thursday. Police say Robert Shepard, 38, threatened to kill people with a knife during a disturbance at a residence in the 1000 block of H Avenue.

Police say Shepard got into an argument with a woman while intoxicated. After he grabbed a large kitchen knife, a child asked him to stop. He allegedly pointed the knife at the child and told him to hide.

Shepard fled the scene before officers arrived. Police found a knife matching the description by the front door. A smoking pipe was discovered, and police indicated that it smelled like burnt marijuana.

Shepard returned to the scene while officers were there and was arrested.
