New Hostess owners request tax abatement for east side plant

The new owners of Hostess want new equipment—and they’re asking the city of Indianapolis for help in getting it done.

According to our newsgathering partners at the Indianapolis Business Journal, Apollo Global Management has asked the city for $10 million in tax abatements to get new equipment for an east side plant.

The facility on Shadeland Avenue is one of several the company wants to reopen. The new owners would add 145 new employees.

Apollo and Metropolis & Co. paid $410 million to buy the Hostess and Dolly Madison snack cake lines along with five plants after the company began liquidating its assets.
