INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 2, 2014) – The State Fairgrounds Coliseum unveiled its new look last spring.
Now, there’s a new name to go along with it.
Introducing the Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Executives from Indiana Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and the Indiana State Fair Commission unveiled the stadium’s new name Tuesday morning.
Indiana Farmers is headquartered in Carmel and has been in business since 1877. It provides auto, home, farm and business insurance for Hoosiers. The deal for the naming rights to the coliseum is for 10 years and $6 million.
The name change is effective immediately, and adjustments are being made to the State Fairgrounds website as well as event listings, staff uniforms and advertisements. A new sign will also go up on the venue.
The city’s new hockey team, the Indy Fuel, played a key role in securing the sponsorship. The Indiana Farmers name will go on the ice surface around the face-off circle. Eventually, the company’s mascot, Garfield, will be perched atop the coliseum’s roof.
